5,000 days of Internet

Kevin Kelly makes several eye-opening points about the internet's existence during his TED talk. With each computer screen, smart phone screen, tablet, ipad etc we are all looking into a a window showing the most reliable machine we have ever made. A window into the "one machine" better known as the cloud, or the internet. It's interesting to find that the internet alone uses 5% of global electricity.  and several terabites, which is a measurement so big I don't even know how big. Furthermore, by year 2040 the web will exceed humanity in processing power.
So what does this mean for our future? Hopefully with the internet growing so much it will create more web based jobs. Perhaps by 2040 we will all be sitting at home in our underwear making livable wages through mere clicks and words typed. But can the internet replace workers as well? Much like technology already has?
Furthermore, with the internet growing so much we become more and more dependent on it to have all our answers. Though convenient it is slowly making us a lazier humans by the day. After all, like Kevin Kelly said, the web is a black hole.
